A mom
A nurse
A chef
A baker
A ref
A coach
A horse
A rescue bot
A cleaning lady
A toy fixer
And a therapist
How much do I get paid for this?
Today I have had conversations about:
Eating a worm and a spider
Why my kid can't have more than 3 servings of applesauce
Why, if our pet bugs are to be in the house, they must stay in their jars
What blood is and how skin heals
Whose poop is on the floor and how did it get there
Where the poop goes after it is flushed
Why it's not ok to throw dirt on a brother's head
Why it's not ok to put dish soap on a brother's head
Why our toothbrushes are not bath toys
Do mothers of girls talk about these things?
Today I:
Vacuumed the play room, stairs, kitchen, and dining room
Steam mopped the kitchen, dining room, bathroom
Cleaned the bathroom
Swept the front porch and steps
Did 2 loads of dishes
Reorganized the boys' stuff in their room
...and my house is still a wreck
Remind me why I thought I was being productive?
You have no idea how beautiful of a post this is. You are sacrificing your dreams, your time, your hobbies and interests so that you can be a mom to 3 boys. 3 boys who very much need you. As your boys grow and mature into Christ-like men, you'll eventually find a bit more time for you, your interests, your hobbies. Perhaps you'll even have time to share coffee with another mom; another mom who's heart is broken because her kids are not walking with the Lord. She'll share how she wanted the best for her kids, but they didn't turn out the way she had hoped. There will be regret in her voice. She'll wish she could have a "do over". But there are no "do overs" as a parent. It is then that you realize, your time as a mom, investing in the lives of your boys, was the most productive time of all. Because you were investing of the lives of your children, one of the most valuable investments we can make. Blessings to you.
